A post-parade party on Veterans Green drew a throng of trick-and-treaters.

WESTPORT — Downtown was filled with Halloween spirit — hundreds, actually — Tuesday afternoon.

They were the costumed marchers in the annual Children’s Halloween Parade. 

Princesses, witches, cartoon characters and dinosaurs were among the candy-hunting characters who collected treats from merchants as they headed up Main Street to Town Hall and Veterans Green.

They were greeted by First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker, dressed as a cowboy(girl?), while firefighters and EMS personnel let youngsters check out emergency vehicles. The Halloween event is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, Westport Downtown Association and Westport Police Athletic League.

Celebrating Halloween and Christmas at the same time, and promoting the Staples Players production of “Elf,” set for Nov. 15-23, are from left, seniors Yusef Abdallah and Chloe Carson, and junior Seamus Brannigan.
Twins Victoria and Alexandra Medina, 11, paired up as mustard and ketchup with their sister “princess” Julia, 7, and “hot dog” Mishka. 
Even dogs dressed up for Tuesday’s parade, from left, Stephanie Rodriquez with Woody, Lisa Winger and Mark Agnew with canine friends Jessie and Buzz Light Year. All of them, including the dogs, work at Eyeglasses.com on Main Street.
