To the editor:

I’m writing to endorse my friend Jonathan Steinberg for re-election to the General Assembly.

Jonathan is a dedicated public servant who embodies strong Connecticut values and works tirelessly for his constituents. First elected to serve as state representative for Westport’s 136th Assembly District in 2010, Steinberg has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the people of Westport and our region.

Jonathan is a highly prepared and strategically minded leader, bringing a wealth of knowledge and analytical skills to his role in the Connecticut General Assembly.

A Yale and NYU Stern School of Business graduate, Steinberg’s early years in the assembly involved key votes to improve Connecticut’s financial footing. Today, our strong financial outlook, including a fully funded rainy day fund, allows our state to invest in new technology and biotech advancements that will support the creation of great companies with good paying jobs and a strong economy that benefits us all — while keeping our commitments to pay down our pension debt.

I’ve been working within tech, biotech and startup circles in Connecticut for the last 20 years. Two of the most promising tech developments — Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing, will produce exciting jobs, careers and investment opportunities — but they also will require enormous amounts of electricity.

As House chair of the Energy & Technology Committee, Jonathan is keenly aware of the critical need for electricity to support a future where AI and Quantum Computing jobs are a key part of our economy. I’m quite confident in his ability to analyze intricate data, help develop a committee point of view of the long-term implications and develop energy strategies and policies that are both progressive and pragmatic.

When we re-elect Jonathan Steinberg this November, voters are choosing a representative whose experience, analytical approach and strategic thinking will continue to benefit our region for years to come.
