Following is the obituary for JENNIFER LEE SMITH, submitted for the family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Jennifer Lee Smith, 50, of Norwalk, passed away on Dec. 22, 2023, after a 17-year battle with cancer. She was the wife of William Smith, and mother of Shelby Smith.

Jennifer was born March 17, 1973, in New Haven to Dale and Barbara Thomas. She was raised in Fairfield, graduated from Michigan State University, and most recently resided in Norwalk.  

She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, and she volunteered at numerous dance recitals and shows that Shelby was participating in. She enjoyed going to antiques shows, reading, crafting and going to the beach. Her favorite place to go to the beach was Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, William Smith; daughter, Shelby Smith; parents, Dale and Barbara Thomas; brother, Chris Thomas and his wife, Erica, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home 210 Post Road East, on Saturday, Dec. 30, from noon to 4 p.m. A memorial service for Jen will be held at a later date.
