WESTPORT — During a six-game winning streak, the Staples High girls tennis team racked up a trio of 7-0 wins, but the most satisfying triumph was a hard-fought 4-3 victory over host Darien earlier this week.

The Wreckers, coming off 7-0 wins over Westhill and Danbury, then a 5-2 victory over Wilton, got wins at third and fourth singles as well as first and third doubles against Darien on April 24.

Staples then beat host Fairfield Warde 4-3 the next day, and blanked visiting Trumbull 7-0 Friday.

The team improved to 7-2 overall.

In the win over Darien, No. 3 singles player Jenna Kornbluth and No. 4 player Sadie Yanks both overcame first-set losses to prevail. The doubles tandems of Karenna Birns/Audrey Kercher and Alana Zitomer/Lucia Wang both won in two sets.
