WESTPORT — A local business with deep community roots is celebrating its centennial.

Gilbertie’s Organics, as the fourth-generation, family- owned garden center is now known, will mark that 100-year milestone with a party on June 4.

In the meantime, Gilbertie’s plans a month-long scavenger hunt around town.

The self-guided scavenger hunt route, plotted by Rock Paper Scissors Custom Events, runs through May 29. The route for the scavenger hunt takes about 30 minutes, plus limited walking time, according to organizers.

Participants who complete the hunt, solve the phrase and send in a photo will be added to a scavengers’ “Wall of Fame.” A winner from among those hunters will be chosen at random and awarded a Gilbertie’s Westport $50 gift voucher. Winners will be announced each week on Mondays May 9, 16, 23 and 30.

The centennial party is set from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the garden center, 7 Sylvan Lane.

The event will feature music, food, artisan and craft vendors, a petting zoo and a free concert by Mystic Bowie’s Talking Dreads.
