WESTPORT — State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg (D-136) has been named a 2021 Connecticut Environmental Champion by the nonprofit group Citizens Campaign Fund for the Environment.

Last week the group announced that Steinberg, along with three other Connecticut state legislators, was being celebrated for his work in augmenting public health and protecting the environment.

“These legislators have proven themselves to be steadfast advocates for their communities and our shared environment,” the group reported.

“Rep. Steinberg has been a strong supporter of Connecticut’s environment through the years,” it said, noting his work restricting PFAS chemicals, as well as helping pass a comprehensive State Water Plan.

Other honorees included State Sen. Christine Cohen, State Sen. Matthew Lesser, and State Rep. Brandon McGee.
