WESTPORT — The second COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children 5 to 11 years old, organized Dec. 4 by the public school district, has added more than 200 appointments to the initial schedule.

The clinic, where a second dose of the Pfizer COVID 5-11 vaccine will be administered, is set from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Staples High School fieldhouse.

An additional 210 slots are available besides those initially scheduled, Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice announced Friday.

Any child 5 to 11 years, who has already had a first Pfizer 5-11 inoculation on or before Nov. 13, is eligible to sign up, and is not required to have received that initial dose at the school’s earlier vaccination clinic Nov. 13, according to the announcement.

However, a child vaccinated with a first dose after Nov. 13 is not eligible for the second dose Dec. 4.

The first clinic was described as “very successful” by Scarice, because of the school district’s collaboration with the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Bay Street Pediatrics, Village Pediatrics, Willows Pediatric Group and the Westport-Weston Health District.
