I write in support of Lee Goldstein for State Representative. As Chair of the RTM Education Committee, I have witnessed Lee’s sound judgment, collaborative and pragmatic leadership, and ability to navigate complex issues with professionalism, integrity, and respect.

As PTA President, Lee worked tirelessly to secure a safe and appropriate learning environment at Coleytown Middle School.  Upon joining the Board of Education, she continued to address shortfalls in school maintenance and capital projects.  As Chair, Lee transformed the budget process into one commended for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and collaboration. Under her leadership, the BOE secured unanimous approval of its operating budget from the Board of Finance and RTM each year.  Lee always remained logical, thoughtful, open-minded, and willing to listen.

Lee’s advocacy for others has been a theme throughout her career.  Before teaching high school English and ESL, she investigated allegations of child abuse and fatalities in foster homes and day cares.  She also counseled survivors of domestic violence and assault.  From her work protecting vulnerable children and supporting victims of abuse to advocating for our community, Lee has dedicated decades to improving the lives of others.  That is precisely who I want representing Westport in Hartford. 

As an RTM member, I am acutely aware of the challenges Westport faces in coming years. We need a representative who understands our community, appreciates how decisions made in Hartford impact Westport, and will advocate for our interests.  Lee has spent her career listening, leading, and standing up for others.  She has routinely demonstrated her ability to  build consensus, and prioritizes collaboration and fiscal responsibility. I have no doubt that she will continue to advance the interests of Westport with determination, integrity, conviction and civility. 

I urge you to vote on November 3, and to vote for Lee Goldstein for State Representative.
