BRIDGEPORT–In a feast or famine trio of games, Staples girls soccer followed up a tie and one-goal setback with its most lopsided win of the campaign, defeating host Bridgeport Central 8-0 on Tuesday.
Paige Toleplitz and Brooke Wallit both scored twice and Alex Floto, Remi Rutstien, Ellie Ferraro and Nyala Wilcox each found the back of the net.
Christina Suarez played the role of playmaker with a trio of assists and Ella Grove, Rutstien, Toleplitz, Ferraro and Wallit also set up goals.
Staples was coming off a scoreless tie at Fairfield Ludlowe on Saturday and a 2-1 loss at home to FCIAC top seed Greenwich on Thursday, Oct. 8. In the Greenwich game, Alexa Van Aken was assisted by Emme Dorfman.
Staples hosts Brien McMahon today at 4 p.m. The Wreckers are in sixth place at 6-4-2 in conference play, three points behind No. 5 Brien McMahon (7-3-2) with four games remaining, including a Saturday, Oct. 17 visit to non-conference opponent Notre Dame Prep of Fairfield at 2:45 p.m.
