WESTPORT–After a 1-1 tie at Fairfield Warde in a wet Saturday morning clash, the Staples girls soccer team returned home and blanked Norwalk 8-0 on Tuesday. The Wreckers stand at 4-2-1 heading into Thursday’s visit to Class LL’s top-ranked St. Joseph of Trumbull at 4 p.m. 

Staples is ranked No. 9 through Tuesday’s action.

Against Warde, Alexa Van Aken’s goal was assisted by Emme Dorfman. In the Norwalk game, Neave Mulvey and Kathryn Fontana both scored twice. Ellie Ferraro, Maddy Gray, Ella Grove and Paige Toeplitz all scored. Emme Dorfman had two assists and Ferraro, Nyala Wilcox, Mulvey, Christina Suarez, Liliana Veloso and Sienna Schwartz had assists.
