WESTPORT–Staples field hockey prevailed in overtime for the second straight game, edging visiting Fairfield Ludlowe 2-1 on Monday.

Once again, Daisy Hackett was Staples’ overtime hero. She scored the decisive goal in the 4-3 decision over New Canaan on Friday and had the decisive tally in the process of handing Ludlowe its first loss in six games to begin the season. Staples improved to 6-2 (6-0 against Connecticut teams).

Leah Larit scored in regulation and had the assist in OT. Wrecker goaltender Margaret Whittle had four saves. Staples outshot Ludlowe 7-5. 

Staples hosts Darien (5-0-1) Wednesday at 4 p.m. Darien is 5-0-1-0 (wins, losses, ties, OT losses) and ranked No. 1 in Class L, ahead of No. 2 Ludlowe and the No. 3 Wreckers.
