BRIDGEPORT — Make it four straight wins for the Staples High boys basketball team, cruising to a 67-40 win at Bridgeport Central on Thursday night.

Two days after a comeback victory over Wilton, the Wreckers left no doubt about things, jumping out to a 24-2 lead over the Hilltoppers after one quarter of play. It was 46-10 at the half.

Sam Clachko did all of his damage in the first two quarters, and scored 22 points to lead the way.

Mason Tobias scored 15 and Charlie Bowman added a dozen.

The Wreckers improved to a 9-4 record overall and 6-3 in FCIAC play heading into a visit to Fairfield Warde at 7 p.m. Tuesday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.
