WESTPORT — Staples baseball team ended the regular season winning two of its final three games, and is primed for the FCIAC playoffs.

The Wreckers earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 St. Joseph of Trumbull in the tournament quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Saturday, postponed from Friday because of weather-related field conditions. Semifinals and finals are planned May 27 and 29 at Stamford’s Cubeta Stadium.

The Wreckers went to Westhill of Stamford and won 7-2 Monday, and split their next two contests, both at home — beating Danbury 6-4 Tuesday and falling 3-2 to Ridgefield on Wednesday.

Staples posted an overall regular season record of 13-7 (11-4 in FCIAC play) including a 4-2 win over St. Joseph.

In the Westhill game, pitcher Noah Saed allowed just one run in six innings, striking out four. Cole Landgraf had two hits, including a home run and drove in two. Connor Brundige had two hits, including a double and drove in one. Vincent Vega had a hit and drove in two. Jake Goldshore doubled and scored.

Against Danbury, the Wreckers built a commanding 6-1 lead through two innings of play. Jules Cicero, Bruce Schlegelmilch and Cooper Brundige all knocked in two runs. Mark Kelly had two hits, including a double, and scored a run, and Michael Linn doubled.

Andrew Oppenheimer had three hits, including a double, in the loss to Ridgefield.
