DANBURY — Tyler DiMaio netted his second hat trick of the season Wednesday, with his three goals boosting the Staples High hockey team to a 6-3 win over host Newtown-New Fairfield at Danbury Ice Arena.
The Wreckers jumped out to a 3-0 lead though one period of play, with DiMaio, Jameson Russell and Cooper Paul all hitting the back of the net.
After the Nighthawks got on the board, DiMaio notched his second of the night for a 4-1 lead. It was 4-2 going into the third period.
DiMaio and Jacob Gomez added net-finders in the final stanza as the Wreckers built a 6-2 lead.
Niko Ninios and Harry Goodburn both had three assists apiece. Levi Nevstad, Carter Fass and Jacob Baker all added assists.
DiMaio had a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Wilton earlier this season
