WESTPORT — For years, the Staples boys soccer team has had difficult days at Darien’s field. The streak continued Monday.

Avery Mueller’s goal at the 20-minute mark gave the Wreckers the lead. But the hosts equalized three minutes before halftime. They had several good chances in the second half, and disrupted Staples’ short-passing, possession rhythm enough to close out the 1-1 draw.

Staples is now 6-0-2; Darien is 2-3-3.

It was the Wreckers’ fourth game in less than a week, and they’re not done. On Wednesday they face Bridgeport Central (6:15 p.m.); on Friday it’s Fairfield Warde (7 p.m.). Both matches are away. Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
