WESTPORT — The owners of 45 Compo Beach Road are seeking to tear down the existing house and detached garage and replace them with new, FEMA-compliant structures.

The project would also include a pool, patios, a gravel driveway and drainage improvements, according to the application.

The project needs a Coastal Area Management review from the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The corner lot across from the Ned Dimes Marina has about 0.6 acres. The house was built about 1931, according to the application.

The property has elevations ranging from about 6 to 8 feet. The new house would be raised from its present 10.7 feet elevation to a FEMA-compliant 13 feet.

The two-story Colonial is owned by 45 Compo Beach Road LLC, according to town land records. The Secretary of State’s Office lists Peter Armstrong as its principal. He lives next door at No. 41.

It needs the P&Z review because, the application states, “The entire Property lies within the AE-11 flood zone, the Wetland Protection Line Ordinances (WPLO) and the Coastal Area Management (CAM) zone.”

Land records state the existing house has about 2,700 square feet of living space.

The new house would have a little over 4,900 square feet, according to architectural plans that call it “the Landau Residence.”
