WESTPORT–The Building Department issued a residential demolition permit Tuesday for the property at 34 High Point Road.
Dan Woog, Westport’s beloved teacher, soccer coach and 06880 blogger grew up in this house.
It was a “great place to grow up,” Woog wrote. “Tons of kids (High Point is the longest cul-de-sac in town). Growing up behind Staples was fantastic. Now there are lots of new young families (and new houses). All things must pass!”
Built in 1956, the 2-story ranch has 2,400-square-feet of living space, four bedrooms, three baths, a basement, a crawl space, an in-ground pool and a terrace.
The property traded hands in May for $1,075,000. It had previously traded in 2017 for $845,000.
The property’s assessment currently stands at $691,500.
High Point Road is off Long Lots Road between North Avenue and Bayberry Lane.

This is so sad, Dan. I am really sorry that this is happening! I know the feeling too well! I hope you have many, many wonderful memories of living there and lots of friends that you remember. Time marches on and there is no stopping it! Glad you still have your place in Westport! You are a big part of Westport, in my eyes at least!
