WESTPORT — Voter turnout in today’s municipal election has been relatively light, with just under 14 percent of the town’s 19,811 registered voters casting ballots by noontime.

According to figures released by the Registrars of Voters office, a total of 2,716 people townwide had voted by noon.

All polls remain open until 8 p.m.

  • Election Day voter registration: People who meet standard voter eligibility criteria can register to vote today. The person must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old, be a “bona fide” resident of Westport and “has completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a disfranchising felony.”

In Westport, Election Day registration will take place today in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave., from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applicants must bring proof of identity and residence.

  • COVID health and safety protocols: People voting in person will be required to wear a mask, although curbside voting is available for voters with a medical exemption, according to the Registrars of Voters office. 

Voters will be asked to stand six feet apart while waiting to cast their ballots.
