WESTPORT — A seat on the Planning and Zoning Commission will soon be vacant when Danielle Dobin, the P&Z chairwoman, gives up her post to take a Board of Finance seat, which she was elected to Nov. 7.
Dobin is a Democrat, and the person appointed to take her place — for the two years remaining of her unexpired term — will have the same political affiliation.
The Democratic Town Committee has issued an invitation for registered Democrats who would like to be considered for appointment to the seat to submit a letter describing their interest in serving on the P&Z as well as a resume or biographical background.
Submissions should be emailed to Michael Gordon, chairman of the DTC’s Nominating Committee, at mgordon906@gmail.com. The deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20.
Nominating Committee members expect to interview candidates Monday, Nov. 27, according to the announcement.
Once the town committee endorses a candidate, the name will be forwarded to the P&Z, whose six remaining members have the final vote on filling the seat.

An incredibly important spot to fill.
There will be very large issues coming up like the anti business crusade on downtown Westport which will surely be rearing its very ugly head soon, and the gardens situation.
Not to mention what’s coming up on longshore.
Lots to discuss and lots to worry about especially if you are a merchant, or gardener, or for that matter if you feel responsible for the well-being of either.
