WESTPORT — A 44-year-old Fairfield woman was killed in a collision with a truck early Monday on a local stretch of Interstate 95.

Julia Clarke, of Castle Avenue in Fairfield, died from injuries she suffered when, according to State Police, the 2019 Porsche Macan she was driving slammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer truck about 12:30 a.m. Monday on I-95, between northbound Exits 17 and 18.

The truck, which was towing a tanker, had stopped in the highway’s right lane because of “heavy traffic,” police said, when Clarke — also traveling north in the same lane — ran into the back of the vehicle.

Clarke was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

The truck driver, identified as Jason Burek, 35, of Oxford, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The accident remains under investigation by State Police.

Westport fire and EMS crews also were dispatched to the fatal accident scene, one of two crashes reported on the local stretch of I-95 early Monday.
