WESTPORT — One driver was extricated and two hospitalized after a two-car crash at the intersection of Saugatuck and Riverside avenues Tuesday morning.

A driver was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be cut from the wreck by firefighters using “battery-powered cutters and spreaders,” according to a post on the Fire Department’s Facebook page.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene by Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, which transported two people to a hospital for what were described as “non-life-threatening” injuries, according to the report.

Police directed traffic around the accident scene.
