WESTPORT — A second Pennsylvania woman is charged in a local crime spree involving a car break-in, stealing checks and fraudulently cashing a stolen check for nearly $3,000, police said.

Kaitlyn Ann Miller, 28, of King of Prussia, Pa., was charged June 27 with third-degree larceny, second-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree identity theft.

The check apparently was stolen by two women who had earlier broken into the complainant’s car and swiped the woman’s purse.

Police launched an investigation into the case last Jan. 30, after receiving a complaint from a customer of the local First County Bank office that someone had fraudulently cashed a check, using her identification, for $2,940.

Bank officials provided police with photos of the women recorded by surveillance cameras, according to the report, and also advised investigators the women also were suspected of committing similar crimes in other area communities.

Detectives investigating the incident, aided by information shared with other law-enforcement agencies, identified the two suspects and prepared warrants for their arrests.

Anne Murphy, 28, of Philadelphia, Pa., was charged April 17 in connection with the case.

Miller was charged last week while at state Superior Court in Stamford, police said, and held on $100,000 bond.
