WESTPORT — A 22-year-old man is accused of choking a relative until he nearly passed out during a domestic violence confrontation last month.
Christopher Groguhe, of Westport, was charged April 11 with second-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.
Officers were dispatched to a local home on March 6 to investigate a report that Groguhe, during a dispute with a relative, “fought with the victim and choked him until he almost passed out,” according to the police report.
When police arrived at the home, Groguhe locked himself in a bedroom and refused to emerge while yelling at officers and EMS workers, police said.
Officers eventually gained entry to the bedroom and took Groguhe into custody. He was later transported to Norwalk Hospital.
A warrant for Groguhe’s arrest was issued and he was formally charged April 11.
He was held on $100,000 bond and taken to state Superior Court in Stamford for arraignment.
