WESTPORT — A 47-year-old man is accused of smashing a window in the door of a local restaurant last week.
Michael Spero, of Westport, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief in connection with the April 1 incident.
Police were dispatched to investigate the report of vandalism at a Bridge Square business on April 1, according to the report, and interviewed a witness to the incident.
The witness reportedly saw a man — later identified as Spero — punch and break a window in the front door of Rainbow Thai restaurant, police said.
The witness noted the license plate number of the suspect’s car as he drove away, and turned it over to investigators.
Police found Spero at his residence, and saw that he had “fresh cuts and blood on his hand, which was consistent with the statements provided by the witness,” according to the report.
He gave police no explanation about why he punched the restaurant’s window, the report states.
Spero was issued a summons, released and scheduled to report for arraignment April 11 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
