WESTPORT — A New York man is charged with both burglary at Greens Farms Academy and vandalism at the Greens Farms Railroad Station on the same day earlier this month.
John Pachler, 52, of New York, N.Y., was charged Nov. 3 with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incidents.
Burglary at the Beachside Avenue school was reported to police the morning of Nov. 3, while an officer on patrol at the railroad station was investigating a complaint about a broken window.
The vandalism suspect — identified as Pachler — was still at the depot when the school burglary was reported. Because of the proximity and timing, police believed he may have been responsible for both incidents.
An officer went to the school to review recorded surveillance footage, and was able to identify Pachler as the person responsible for the break-in, according to the report.
Pachler was taken into custody and faces the burglary and larceny charges for the school incident, as well as criminal mischief for vandalism at the railroad station.
He was released after posting $10,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear Nov. 13 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
