WESTPORT — A fire that burned out of control in an outdoor oven Sunday at an Owenoke Park home was quickly doused by firefighters.
Two engine companies, a rescue truck and the shift commander were dispatched to the fire about 7:55 p.m. Sunday.
At the scene, firefighters discovered flames had ignited in a space beneath the oven, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows. The burning oven frame stood nearby the home.
While the blaze was extinguished, firefighters also secured gas and electric lines to the site. The incident is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
