WESTPORT — A storm with not much rain but gusty winds moved through the area Saturday evening, leaving dozens of households without power.

A large tree limb fell across Crawford Road near Lowlyn Road about 7:41 p.m. Eversource reported 20 customers were without power there.

Westport Fire/EMS sent a text message to subscribers shortly after 9 p.m.

Police had the road closed. An officer said wires also were down.

Several customers lost service because of fallen tree limbs in Greens Farms, near Hillandale Road and Wakeman Road.

By midnight, according to Eversource, the neighborhood had service restored.

Another 31 customers were in the dark in the Hogan Trail neighborhood.

By 2 a.m. Sunday, Eversource additionally reported “less than five” customers without service on River Lane.

Eversource estimated about 4:30 this morning that power would be restored to the Crawford Road neighborhood about 7:30 a.m., the Hogan Trail neighborhood about 8:30 a.m., and River Lane by 9:30 a.m.

Westport fared better than other Fairfield County towns, some of which saw hundreds of households and businesses lose power.

The storm had gusty winds, but not a lot of rain locally. Only .15 inches fell on the area in the last 24 hours, according to an official rain gauge atop the Norwalk Health Department’s roof. Temperatures did plunge Saturday evening, however, falling from the mid-90s to the mid-70s in just a couple of hours.

The National Weather Service expects Sunday to be mostly sunny in Westport, with a high near 83. Sunday night there’s a chance of rain after 2 a.m., and the temperature might dip to around 61.
