Following is the obituary for SALVATORE A. MASTROMATTEO, submitted for the family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Salvatore A. Mastromatteo, 90, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022.

Salvatore “Sonny” Mastromatteo was born on Sept. 4, 1932, in Stamford. He lived most of his life in Westport and Norwalk.

He was a loving and devoted son, brother and uncle. Prior to his retirement, he worked many years for Arnold Bakery. Sal enjoyed his time off by going to New York City, the movies, walking at the mall and, most of all, spending time with his family.

He was the son of the late Alfredo Mastromatteo and Lena (Bennette) Mastromatteo Troncone, and was predeceased by his sister Annamay (Mastromatteo) Bradley, whom he shared a home with after the death of their mother.

Sal is survived by his nieces Claudia Bradley and fiancé William Thomas of Tamarac, Fla.; Tammy (Vinny) Guarente of Beacon Falls, who were his “pride and joy.”  He is also survived by his great-niece Angela Guarente (Joe Darrah); great-nephew Joe (Megan) Guarente, and great great-nieces Michaela Darrah and Izabella Guarente.

We would like to thank June Richardson (conservator), all of the staff at the Westport Rehabilitation Complex and Long Ridge Acute Care for taking such great care of Salvatore.

Private services were held at Assumption-Greens Farms Cemetery in Westport.
