Robert Bevacqua

Robert Bevacqua, a long-time resident of Westport, passed away peacefully on July 30. He was 81. Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Bob was a hairdresser by trade, first at high-end salons in New York City during the 70s and 80s and later in the Westport area, where he continued to have a large following of loyal clients right up until his passing.

Beyond hairdressing, the second half of Bob’s life was a spiritual journey of recovery focused on selflessly helping others, both in and outside of the recovery community. An ordained minister, Bob later found great peace and enlightenment in Buddhism as well as the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, leading groups exploring both.

His last days were spent surrounded by many of the people whose lives he touched with his love, guidance, and kindness.

Bob is survived by a sister, Carol Palermo, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
