Fred L. Packer, 84 of Westport, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dorothy (Mulderrig) Packer and their two sons, David M. Packer and Matthew R. Packer. He is also survived by his sons from a previous marriage, William J. Packer (Jenifer) and Andrew L. Packer (Liz).

Fred was born to the late Morris and Augusta Packer in New York and graduated from Riverdale Country School and NYU Stern School of Business (BS Finance). He had a distinguished career in Property & Casualty Insurance Brokerage with Marsh & McLennan (Managing Director), Johnson & Higgins (Managing Principal) and Marsh Inc. (Managing Director). His career of over 47 years was defined by his expertise and integrity. 

A voracious reader, he enjoyed boating, fishing and competitive trap and skeet shooting with friends at area clubs. Family canine companions Coco and self-appointed protector, Moses will miss his loving presence. 

Fred’s family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield, CT. Interment will be private.
