Following is the obituary for BARBARA REED, submitted by her family.

Barbara Reed, formerly of Colony Road in Westport, passed away in Savannah, Ga., on April 4, 2023. She was 88 years old.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John, her parents and her five older brothers. She is survived by her son, Steve (wife Barbara); daughter, Lynn Meredith (husband Wayne), and her two adored grandchildren, Jack Reed and Louise Reed.
Barbara moved with her family to Westport in 1969 and lived there until 1992. She worked at Staples High School in the Guidance Department, and will always be remembered by her big beautiful smile and wonderful laugh.
She and John loved life in Westport — weekly Sunday breakfasts at Compo Beach, many a fun night spent at Viva Zapata and fun times with the “Colony Road Players.”
Her life motto was, “Always put a smile on your face.” Though our hearts are broken, we will live by her motto.

How I loved your mother! She was a bright shining light in my life, with her incredible smile and her great sense of humor. She and your dad moved away much too soon in my mind. It was too hard to keep up a close friendship at such a distance. Though my husband Bob died 12 years ago, I am still in Westport living in a townhouse in Lansdowne. All my best to you and your spouses and the two treasured grandchildren.
