WESTPORT — Citing the “continued rapid increase” in COVID-19 cases, driven by the highly transmissible Omicron variant, officials on Wednesday suspended all in-person programs at the Westport Center for Senior Activities at least through the Jan. 17 observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The center’s weekday lunch program will continue, but meals can be picked up on a “drive-though” basis at noon Mondays through Fridays. Reservations for the meals are required at least 24 hours in advance and can be made by calling 203-341-5097.

Registrants for all classes and other activities planned during the period will be notified and, when possible, the programs will be held via Zoom.

Senior center officials said they will continue to monitor the COVID transmission rate, and will announce any future changes based on that data and related health guidance.
