WESTPORT — The Planning and Zoning Commission has approved an application from The Clubhouse, the popular sports-centric venue at 1620 Post Road East, to extend its hours of operation.
The Clubhouse combines sports viewing, interactive games and dining. The outdoor dining area can now stay open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays—matching the closing hours of other Westport restaurants.
Rooftop dining, neighborhood concerns

The Clubhouse abuts the Lansdowne community, referred to as a “densely populated neighborhood” by Commissioner Neil Cohn. He raised concerns about potential noise impacts.
However, P&Z Director Michelle Perillie reported that the Westport Police Department has received no complaints related to noise. Land use consultant Rick Redniss, representing owners Tim and Emily Zobl, emphasized that the construction of the rooftop space included extensive sound-dampening panels, to preempt the potential for noise complaints.
Praised by the commission
Despite the concerns, commissioners praised The Clubhouse as a strong addition to Westport. Commissioner Neil Cohn called it a “great addition,” and Michael Cammeyer recounted his visits with visible enthusiasm.
The venue has drawn large, enthusiastic crowds for events like the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four, all without triggering any formal complaints, officials said.
Music curfew remains
Commissioners noted that, under town rules, no restaurant—including The Clubhouse—is allowed to play outdoor music past 9 p.m.
Although noise enforcement technically falls under the police department and not P&Z, the commissioners agreed that any future issues should be handled by law enforcement.
Unanimous approval
In the end, the commission voted 6–0 in favor of the application. Voting to approve were John Bolton, Michael Calise, Michael Cammeyer, Neil Cohn, Paul Lebowitz, and Amy Wistreich. Commissioner Patrizia Zucaro abstained.
The consensus: The Clubhouse was simply asking for the same treatment as other Westport restaurants—and now it has it.
