WESTPORT — State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg received full endorsement from the Democratic Town Committee on Thursday night to return to his seat in Hartford representing District 136.
“I’m an experienced, effective player in the legislative process and will continue to deliver for Connecticut and for Westport,” Steinberg said in his acceptance speech following a voice vote, with no competing candidates for the nomination.
In his acceptance speech he recounted some areas of focus during his 12-year tenure, including chairing the Public Health Committee.
“This year I was part of the signature bill of the session — the comprehensive effort to address children’s mental health,” he said.
At this time the Republican Town Committee has not released the name of anyone it is endorsing to run against Steinberg.

Jonathan Steinberg has been a very responsive and effective State Senator. I’m glad he’s decided to continue to serve our community.
In his acceptance ,Mr. Steinberg said “ I’m an experienced, effective PLAYER in the legislative process”. When I look at the financial condition of our state and see the word ‘PLAYER’ used to describe a qualification for re-election I wonder.
