WESTPORT — Snow, blanketing the region overnight Monday, is projected to keep falling through Tuesday afternoon with accumulations totaling as much as 4 inches and temperatures sliding below freezing for the rest of the week.

In a “Winter Weather Advisory” issued for the Westport area through 7 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service forecasts that snow flurries are likely to mix with icy precipitation by midday.

Two days after a wet winter storm flooded riverside and shoreline areas of Westport, the NWS has issued another warning of possible flooding from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday as the high tide crests at 3 o’clock.

But the storm — with steady but light snowfall and low wind speeds — caused very limited power disruptions by early Tuesday. No outages were reported in Westport and neighboring communities as of 4 a.m., and only 298 total outages — all of them in Stamford — were reported by Eversource across its statewide customer base.

Skies will remain cloudy throughout Tuesday, with the daytime high temperature reaching the mid-30s and wind-chill values registering in the low-20s, according to the weather service.

Clouds will dissipate overnight as temperatures plunge to the low-teens.

Even though sunny skies are expected Wednesday, the NWS says the daytime high temperature will remain below freezing with a high only in the upper-20s.

Very cold conditions will prevail Thursday as clouds move in, with a chance for more snow Thursday night and Friday.

Power disruptions can be reported online at Eversource.com or by calling 800-286-2000. Customers who signed up for the power company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
