WESTPORT — Mother Nature is capping this Fourth of July with fireworks — and weather woes — all her own.

After a holiday parade of periodic showers, punctuated by downpours and thundery blasts, the National Weather Service has issued multiple warnings for Westport on Tuesday evening, including a coastal flood warning through early Wednesday coupled with a poor air-quality alert.

The series of storms that blew threw the region Tuesday caused thousands of power outages, but as of Tuesday evening only a handful in Westport.

Skies are expected to clear later Tuesday, and Wednesday should be mostly sunny and hot, with temperatures rising to the upper-80s, according to the weather service.

But in issuing an air-quality alert for Wednesday, the NWS said the region’s ozone levels “may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.”
