WESTPORT — Two Staples High School seniors have been recognized for “excellence and distinguished service” in the arts by a statewide academic group.

Sophie Alcyone and Alexandra Maskoff were among approximately 300 seniors from across the state honored at the recent 27th annual High School Arts Awards, sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Schools.

Alcyone was recognized in the visual arts field, and Maskoff was cited for music. Both local honorees were nominated by Staples staff.

The nonprofit Connecticut Association of Schools represents more than 1,100 schools in the state.
