WESTPORT — Plant a seed, watch things grow.

In keeping with its mission of nurturing nature, the Westport Farmers Market aims to encourage the talents of young photographers with its sixth annual “Young Shoots Photography Contest.”

The contest, from June 23 through July 31, is open to entries from photographers, five to 18 years old, taken at the farm market. Partnering with the market are the Artists Collective of Westport and the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center.

Photographs will be judged in three age groups, according to organizers, and an August reception is planned for contest entrants at Gilbertie’s Herbs and Garden Center, 7 Sylvan Lane.

Winners in each age group and a “Fan Favorite” will receive a cash prize and opportunity to attend an art class at MoCA Westport.

Leading the judging of this year’s contest is Anne Burmeister, a Westport Farmers Market board member and photographer for the “Who Grows Your Food” project.
