Celebrating a refreshed Sconset Square
A “Fall Fete” to show off the refreshed Sconset Square collection of retail and hospitality brands is planned Saturday.
The event at the downtown shops off Myrtle Avenue will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. In addition to showcasing current-day businesses at the center, the event will feature pizza by 900 Degrees, musical performances by Tangled Vine and other activities.
Cashmere sales pop-up
For an eighth year, “The Cashmere Sale” has returned to downtown Westport through Dec. 11.
The pop-up outlet is located at 136 Main St., and is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
The merchandise includes sweaters, wraps, blankets, hats gloves and accessories for women and men, according to Joy Schwartz, a Fairfield County resident who operates the sale.

Citation for spinal surgeon

Dr. Vijay Yanamadala, a neurosurgeon with Hartford HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute Spine Wellness Center in Westport, was recently named to SpineLine’s annual “20 Under 40” list, highlighting physicians younger than 40 years old among the North American Spine Society.
Yanamadala is the medical director of spine quality for Hartford HealthCare. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, 25 book chapters and 45 abstracts. He also was presented a 2017 NASS Resident and Fellow Research Award.
Yanamadala last year performed the first awake spine surgery at Hartford HealthCare, and became the first surgeon in New England to perform an awake spinal fusion, according to a Hartford Healthcare publicity release.
