Map illustrates detours planned around the Saugatuck Railroad Station, revised to take place Thursday and Friday, allowing paving to be completed on Riverside Avenue.

WESTPORT — The schedule to pave — and close off — a section of Riverside Avenue, near the Saugatuck Railroad Station, has been changed for a second time this week.

The schedule for the Riverside paving — between Charles Street and Railroad Place — now is planned for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, according to an announcement Tuesday by Public Works Director Peter  Ratkiewich.

The work initially was supposed to start Monday and finish Wednesday, and then because of weather conditions, was pushed back to Wednesday and Thursday.

The paving will affect access to the Saugatuck Railroad Station both Thursday and Friday.

Detours around the work area will be enforced both days.

To drop off passengers on either side of the rail depot, enter via Ferry Lane on the south side of the station, officials said.

For passengers leaving from the westbound platform, continue on Ferry Lane past the eastbound platform, pass under the railroad bridge and proceed to the Railroad Place drop off. The westbound platform will remain open throughout the paving project.

Westbound passengers also can be dropped off in parking lot #1 and walk up the staircase to the platform.

Officials said the project’s schedule is dependent on favorable weather, and is subject to change in the event of inclement conditions.
