WESTPORT — The “myTeam Triumph” triathlon on Sunday will have an impact on traffic in the Compo/Greens Farms area, according to a police advisory.
The event, where athletes with disabilities captain teams of “Angels” to compete in swimming, bicycling and running, will be based at Compo Beach.
Registration gets underway at 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, with the race scheduled to start at 7:30.
The race course for biking and running teams, in addition to Compo Beach and Longshore Club Park, will include Hillspoint Road, Greens Farms Road, Compo Road South and Compo Beach Road, police said.
Participants are expected to be on the route at least until 10 a.m., and drivers in the area should expect delays, according to the advisory.
The triathlon is the second major event Sunday that will disrupt usual traffic patterns in town.
The “CT United Ride,” a 9/11 tribute involving thousands of motorcyclists, will start from Sherwood Island State Park about 11:30 a.m. and proceed through town via Saugatuck Avenue to Riverside Avenue to Wilton Road. The motorcade leaves town at the Wilton border and continues on a 60-mile route before ending in Bridgeport.
