WESTPORT — Traffic flow through town will be affected Saturday as several routes of the annual CT Challenge bicycle ride are mapped along local streets.
The CT Challenge, founded in 2005, attracts hundreds of bicyclists who raise money to support cancer survivors.
This year’s event, based at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield, features four routes for riders of lengths from 10 to 100 miles. For information about the routes, click here.
Starting times for the various routes are staggered between the hours of 6:30 and 7:45 a.m. Saturday, July 27.
In a traffic advisory, Westport police said cyclists on the shorter routes will enter town in the Beachside Avenue area, while those on longer routes will enter town on Long Lots Road.
Most of the cyclists are expected to be on Westport roads between 7 and 9 o’clock Saturday morning, police said.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution because of the congestion and to expect delays.
