
WESTPORT — Diane Farrell, a former two-term first selectwoman of Westport who subsequently has held federal commerce and business posts, will speak to the Dec. 15 meeting of the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club.
The meeting will start at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and Farrell will speak at 8:15 a.m., at Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road. Refreshments will be available starting at 7 o’clock.

Farrell, who served as Westport’s chief elected official from 1997-2005, is now deputy undersecretary for international trade in the Office of the Deputy Undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Commerce. She plans and coordinates policies, directs the International Trade Administration and oversees operations of the International Trade Administration.
She also is co-chair of the Department of Commerce’s Equity Council.
She previously was the department’s deputy assistant secretary for Asia, and before that, was executive vice president of the U.S. India Business Council.
From 2007-11, she was an appointed member of the board of directors of the Export Import Bank of the United States. She also was named a member of the White House Business Council.
