“The Queen” will be screened Monday at the Remarkable Drive-In.

WESTPORT — A special screening of the movie, “The Queen,” is planned Monday, Sept. 12, at the Remarkable Drive-In, as a remembrance of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday.

The biographical drama, featuring Helen Mirren as the late monarch, dramatizes events surrounding the queen and her family immediately following the death of Princess Diana in a 1997 auto accident in Paris.

The 2006 movie, rated PG-13, will be shown at 7:15 p.m., doors open at hour earlier.

Tickets — reduced to $30 per car — can be purchased at the Remarkable Theater’s website here.

The movie chronicles the behind-the-scenes drama that unfolded as the queen initially resisted calls for an official royal tribute to the late princess. That stance eventually softened, according to the film’s account, as the queen was persuaded by then-Prime Minister Tony Blair and the public’s outpouring of grief.

The cast also includes Michael Sheen, James Cromwell, Helen McCrory and Sylvia Sims.

Ticket proceeds benefit the Remarkable Theater’s goal of opening a nonprofit movie theater in downtown Westport that will employ people with disabilities.

The drive-in screen is located in the parking lot at 50 Imperial Ave.
