WESTPORT — The link between mental and physical wellness will be explored at a May 30 benefit for Positive Directions, the Center for Prevention and Counseling.

“An Evening of Mental Fitness” is set from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Ave. To reserve tickets online in advance, click here.

The fundraiser will support Positive Directions’ “essential work in mental health and substance misuse management,” according to the event announcement. Among the agency’s community partners is the Westport Prevention Coalition.

The evening will feature a “Mind & Muscle” workshop, organized by Rhone apparel. A focus for the clothing brand is the relationship between mental health and physical fitness.

Speakers will discuss “aspects of mental health and the importance of asking for help,” according to the announcement.

They include: Nate Checketts, the Rhone CEO and co-founder; Vanessa Wilson, Positive Directions executive director; Zac Clark, Release Foundation co-founder and and Release Recovery CEO, and David Goldshore, Staples High School basketball coach.

The Mind & Muscle workshop will be led by trainer Eric Johnson, co-founder of HOMAGE. It combines a workout with a mental health discussion. Event organizers suggest attendees dress suitably for “a light workout,” which can be modified for all abilities.

The local Rhone store, 7 Main St., also will donate 10 percent of purchases between May 31 and June 2 to benefit Positive Directions.
