WESTPORT–The Parks and Recreation department has deployed a number of cameras on the Longshore Club Park property. According to Carman Roda, the Operations Director of Parks and Rec. said the most recently installed camera flanks the Longshore entrance and “records vehicle makes and models and license plates,” in case of vandalism or burglary.

There was a break-in at the golf pro shop last year and the department had no photographic evidence of cars entering the park.

There are a number of cameras in Longshore, Roda explained: “the pavilion, tennis courts, pool area and marina” all have cameras, as do the maintenance building and the Parks and Rec. office building.

The cameras are there to ensure the safety of the park’s patrons and to make sure that the department has a way to monitor activity across the park, Roda said.
