WESTPORT — Donate those unused LEGO bricks to help build a brighter future for children in need.

Sustainable Westport is organizing a local collection drive of LEGO, DUPLO, Technic, mini figure and/or baseplate pieces to donate to the LEGO Replay program, which partners with “donation networks to ensure your LEGO bricks reach children in need,” according to its website.

“Whether a random assortment of partial sets or a full collection, every piece you contribute sparks creativity, problem-solving and collaborative play,” the Sustainable Westport organizers said in a statement.

And, the group also said in the statement, the campaign also helps benefit the environment since LEGO pieces are not recyclable for several reasons, including their composition and their size.
