WESTPORT — Golfers who hit the greens for Westport Police Athletic League’s annual golf tournament Sept. 13 will help ensure the group has the “green” to support its community programs.
Money raised by Westport PAL’s 59th annual Chief Samuel Luciano Golf Tournament, traditionally one of PAL’s biggest fundraisers, is particularly vital this year. PAL’s largest yearly fundraiser — Westport’s July 4 fireworks — has been canceled the last two years by concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Proceeds help fund PAL’s athletic and college scholarship programs, according to organizers.
The tournament — open to single, twosome or foursome play — starts at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Longshore Country Club, with sign-ins and breakfast in front of Longshore’s pro shop.
Morning tee times start at 8 a.m. Lunch is planned at 11 o’clock next to Longshore’s tennis courts.
Afternoon sign-in is at 12:30 p.m. at the pro shop; afternoon tee times at 1:30 are sold out at this time.
The tourney winds up with cocktails and dinner beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Sponsorships for the tournament are still available. Click here.
Golfers can register for the tourney here.
Rain date is Sept. 20.
