A 24-hour push for nonprofit help is underway today, Thursday, Feb. 24, with the 9th annual Giving Day drive in Fairfield County.

Led by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, there are more than 400 area charities participating, with focuses in dozens of categories.

People are encouraged to take part, even with a little help, but ideally before the clock strikes midnight.

As of 4 a.m. this morning 863 donors had given more than $96,000 to 108 of the participating organizations.
