WESTPORT–The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning for Westport, starting tomorrow at 6 a.m. through 6 a.m. Sunday and a high wind advisory starting tomorrow at 2 p.m. through 6 a.m. Sunday.

Gale warning

Towns on the Connecticut coast west of New Haven should expect northeast winds of 15 to 25 knots and seas of three to five feet. Boaters should plan to avoid these hazardous conditions:  remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.

High wind advisory

Westporters should expect winds from the north at 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph.

The NWS says gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. They caution that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution when driving and secure outdoor objects.
